Muskrat damn Muskrats Busy on Minnehaha Creek in Big Willow Park

Muskrat Dam under Rail Road Bridge

The muskrats have been busy this fall, building a dam on the Minnehaha Creek in Big Willow Park. This dam, in the narrows beneath the railroad trestle, increases the average depth of the creek significantly upstream, beyond the pedestrian/bike bridge on the Big Willow trail.

Creek levels are very low in the area, and it doesn’t appear that this dam is causing any immediate damage.
